Art Deco JAKOB BENGEL Black White Necklace
$277.00
Highly sought-after collectible from the 1930s. The brickwork chain construction was previously used for watch chains/fobs and the use for necklaces, etc. was a “new” innovation in costume jewelry.
This necklace is a simple shiny chrome plated metal with white (aged creamy) and black enameled paint work. It can be worn reversed for a plain silver tone look – how practical is that?! This piece is triple bricked on the narrower sides, and eight deep in the front.
It measures 3/8” (1 cm) on the sides, ¾” (2 cm) at the center front, the length is 16 ¼” (42 cm) and is equipped with a push-in clasp that is marked GERMANY. All blocks of enameling are present, and while some have minor chipping that will not affect wear, it means it is not flawless (nearly 100 years old.) There is some wear through the chrome to the base metal on the backside where it touched the neck (shows in pic of backside.) The clasp works perfectly and makes that quiet “click” as it snaps securely. Overall, it is in very good vintage condition.
