Ostrich Abstract Art Couture Necklace

Wowza! is the word for this art couture neck piece. The abstract patterned black ostrich is on the run! I picked up the ceramic centerpiece in a thrift shop – I think it may have been a spoon rest, but I thought it was too cool and could see it as a wonderful, dramatic piece with a primitive attitude.
I found a two-tone cateye marble with the same colors – warm yellow and rusty brown that I positioned to almost look like an eye or egg at the bottom of the tray.

This is just one of many statement necklaces I have made. There is something very special to this piece. Upon a closer examination you'll notice yellow poinsettia flowers on old earrings. You can also find a pair of old collar buttons with amber rhinestones; a stick pin from the 70s, black faceted glass beads, and a tangle of dangling beads in similar earthy tones of wooden beads.
Trifari Necklace
A Trifari necklace with faux tortoise beads was re-purposed to adjust this necklace from 14.5 – 18 inches. This adjustment helps to fit with a variety of necklines. At it’s center it is 6.75 inches deep. To learn more about Vintage Trifari Necklaces click here.
It is comfortable to wear, but I really like it on display as art because of its rich color and textures.
