Lenox Berries and Bird Couture Cuff

$425.00

The centerpiece is a Lenox painted bisque porcelain bird that formerly served as a place card holder (formal table settings.)  The purple “berries” are vintage buttons, but echoed the berries painted amongst the leaves at the base of the bird.  The bird is yellow, with flame red comb & tail feathers, a black mask, and has glass eyes.

Rhinestone CORO brand earrings from the 1950s were missing some stones, but now add a bit of sparkle to the front of the bird.  Lots of other vintage buttons & beads, bangles arch around to help protect the overall assemblage; earrings, and orchids done in the style of LAUREL BURCH.

Lenox: A True American success story!

Its long history started in 1889 by Walter Scott Lenox (1859-1920) in Trenton in New Jersey.  Originally as an art studio to produce the ceramic articles of “civilized life” and not mass produced.  Certainly, as they only had eighteen employees.

In the early 19th century, Lenox became known for its elaborate decorated plates.  Consequently, this success led to producing complete sets of dinnerware.  Some of the company's designs were produced for over fifty years.  This was a byproduct of hiring talented, award winning designers.

Lenox developed the first bridal registry with work displayed in The Smithsonian.  Also, they won many awards in the tableware industry,  Additionally, over the years, the corporation changed its name many times to reflect the needs of a given era and as well as business.

Regardless of the date on the calendar, the name LENOX has always been synonymous with quality and beauty meeting practical purpose.  Aside from countless chinaware with diverse purposes, it has also produced serving pieces, vases, decorative items, as well as carried table cloths, napkins and nearly any other product that supported fine living wares, as well as partnering with other prestigious companies like Gorham Manufacturing Company, Department 56, and Dansk International.
